This library was a fun project to take on because the homeowner already had a separate office and living space, which meant that this room could be purely devoted to housing books and a bar. AKA: the best kind of library.
The timeline for this room was interesting – from the date that I originally saw the space, I had one month to install the room. My client was hosting a large party and needed it taken care of asap. A budget was set, and I went to work.
The bones were already in place, but I needed to find furnishings and finishing touches really quickly. Here’s a look at the existing space when I got started.
My client brought a great collection of books to the table, as well as a pretty cool portrait of Ronald Reagan which I found a home for over the new bar. The rest of the items for the space needed to be sourced from either local vendors, or companies with quick-ship programs.
Rich textures like the leather chairs, wool rug and cashmere throws warm up the room and make it an inviting place to enjoy a book and a cocktail each evening.
Never be afraid to add feminine details like pink flowers to a masculine room. It breaks it up and adds much needed contrast!
